After signing to work together about two weeks ago, Suzuki and Volkswagen aren’t going to waste any time to start their joint projects. With the upcoming holidays, they are delaying their start but reporters were told that they would start in January. At the launch of the new Suzuki Alto, CEO Osama Suzuki told the reporters clearly: “Actual, detailed execution- with our people going there and their people coming here…after January.”

The first new project will be a small vehicle that will be sold in developing countries which might not be outsourced from the Suzuki’s Indian Maruti operations. The prices for this vehicle could be as low as $4,300 and $5,400. Although Volkswagon is much less experienced in building small cars, Suzuki is the leader in Japan’s tiny Kei car class and in making money with such low prices.
